High-flying summit meeting

This time it was the turn of the Pilatus, Lucerne's local landmark peak, to host the eighth edition of the Central Swiss Business Forum. Held on 5 September and organised by the Central Switzerland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHZ), it was attended by 240 decision-makers from the worlds of business and politics.

Apostroph Group CEO Philipp Meier was also present to brush up on the latest news from the business world. This year's Central Swiss Business Forum focused on "security – reliability – trust" and featured presentations from key individuals, including Samih Sawiris, who outlined his project in Andermatt and his experiences with the Swiss mentality. The attendees listened attentively to his views on security – as seen from the standpoint of a major investor with projects in various locations, including North Africa.

Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin also addressed aspects of security and economic policy in his presentation. The head of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport addressed issues such as the threat to Switzerland and reliability and trust within the Patrouille Suisse aerobatics team.

The high-calibre contributions and workshops were followed by the obligatory farewell dinner. Alongside culinary and musical delights, the attendees had the opportunity to discuss the findings of the symposium and to network. Where better to do so than on the lofty Pilatus in glorious late-summer weather?
